You can get a bird’s eye view of the magnificent KwaZulu-Natal North Coast while staying at Chaka’s Rock Chalets, at the Ballito Microlight School. You don’t need to be an accomplished microlight pilot, or even need any experience at all, to take part in these fun trips, as you will be assisted along the way by accomplished pilots with your safety foremost in mind. All of the pilots are qualified instructors with many years of experience.
Open cockpit flying in a microlight is one of the best ways to get an unobstructed view of the lie of the land, with gorgeous scenery, and once-in-a-lifetime photographs.
The Ballito Microlight School offers a range of trips depending on your needs, and you can count on Ballito’s lovely balmy weather to be just right for the occasion. If you are a feeling a little nervous, you can sample the excitement on a quick ten-minute flip over the rolling fields of sugar cane with distant ocean views to get a feel of the thrill of flight.
A twenty-minute tour from the Ballito airfield along the Indian Ocean coastline past Sheffield Beach to Salt Rock is sure to deliver sightings of dolphin and other sea life and beautiful panoramas of the coast.
The deluxe 30-minute jaunt will take you all along the coast from the airstrip past Sheffield Beach, Salt Rock, and Shaka’s Rock, where King Shaka’s impis are believed to have jumped off the rock to prove their bravery. Then it’s on to Ballito and the luxurious scenes of Zimbali before returning to base. Dolphins, whale sharks, giant manta rays and turtles are often spotted on this trip.
Ballito Microlight School will be happy to arrange custom-made routes according to your needs as well, contact them on firstname.lastname@example.org or 082 659 5550. Lessons are also available should you fall prey to the microlight bug during your adventure.
If your experience is too good not to share, you can even purchase a voucher for a friend to enjoy their own microlight flip, or arrange for a team building exercise with Ballito Microlight Shool.
The Ballito airfield, located in a tranquil sugar estate, is a lovely place to socialise before and after your microlight experience with a neat entertainment and braai area, which serves breakfast, toasted sandwiches, snacks and drinks. The club has over fifty members and an active social programme, so you can even bring your own microlight along and join in the fun.
