Cape Town to get new Liner Terminal

Transnet has given the go ahead for a dedicated terminal for cruise liners in Table Bay Harbour, Cape Town.

Ports Authority spokesman, Coen Birkenstock, mentioned that the new berthing terminal will feature an arrivals and departures facility and will be completed within the next 2 years. He went onto mention that the new terminal would possibly encourage more international cruise liner operators to include Cape Town on their itineraries.

Since the beginning of the year, liners have been required to berth in the Duncan Dick due to Home Affairs banning liners exceeding a 200m in length, from berthing at the V&A Waterfront, citing safety concerns.
