Keep an emergency stash of money. If you lose your wallet at least you will have a money still on hand. An empty Chapstick is a fantastic secret hiding spot.

Learn how to pack light. You do not need to take 20Kg’s of clothing for a week. The less you have to carry, the happier you will be while travelling.

Always carry a hard copy map of the city or country you are visiting.

Get folders for all your travel documents and itineraries. Keep them organise so you don’t have to worry about trying to find anything important in your bag at the airport check-in.

Always be aware of local laws. Don’t drink alcohol on the streets of Dubai or expect to chew and spit gum in Singapore. Don’t expect your country’s law system to follow you around the world.

Learn a few phrases in of the local language and speak to the locals. Experience their culture – don’t just wander through it.

Try things that really push you out your comfort zone, after all, you’re on an adventure!
