Our fans disappeared as we rounded the mouth of the harbour. The goodbyes were gone.
Soon we were totally alone, no matter where we looked there were vast voids of streaky waves. White horses lapped up the side of the Melody like suds at a carwash. I lapped up the sun and earned the worst short tan ever (This is probably why the Irish never colonised anything).
This was my trip on the MSC Melody, and my first time at sea.

Even though I had never been at sea (I once watched Titanic, if that counts) I quickly grew a pair of sea legs to fit my land loving shoes (for the others that could not grow such limbs, I truly am sorry). As the sun set with its trailing red robe on the first evening I stood with a cocktail in hand and a holiday in mind, nothing could go wrong. And I was right; it was one of my best holiday experiences thus far.
Entertainers, comedians, seven course meals, social decks and colourful drinks were the spin words for the five days on the Melody. Inhaca Island welcomed us ashore for a trip and a dip in the crystal waters (Me tanning on the bleached sands resembled a Vienna on a slice of white bread). I later on reasoned that every amazing travel photo is probably taken on that island.

Getting yourself onboard a cruise ship truly sets you up to have an amazing experience. If life is all about the memories you make, this should be one of them.
Flexi Club offers some great packages for trips onboard the MSC Melody and the Sinfonia, which you should take full advantage of and book early, you don’t want to miss the boat (that was a really lame pun, I should walk the plank).
